Film Initial Response

Worlds fastest Indian

Burt Munro an old bloke from Invercargill with a dream of riding his life long project his 47-year-old Indian, in the Bonneville Salt flats. Burt is well known in his small community for being a loud and childish Adult who brings a positive and likeable presence and is also a master at first impressions. This year Burt has saved up enough to travel over to American with his Indian on his travels Burt meets many different personalities of people and finds a way to woo them with his first impression and make the most of them. This is how Burt manages to find a place to race his bike along the salt flats and achieve his dream.

character

Pony Boy

A character that stood out to me was the man that let Burt race, he showed kindness and respect for a man (Burt) who he hadn’t known for longer than a day. An example of his kindness is when he convinced the race officials to let Burt compete even though Burt was competing against him, he also stuck with Burt and helped him achieve everything he needed before he showing great sportsman ship.

Setting

The scene and setting when Burt arrives in America is an effective scene in building Burts character as it creates a scene where he is exposed to new culture and ideas and how he reacts supports his character as being childish and witty. An example of this is when Burt is in the taxi driving through the LA city and squishes his face up against the window (like a child) and is amazed by the lights like a kid on their first Christmas.

Directors Intention

In my opinion the directors intention was to tell the story of Burt Munro an older style of athlete which would often be looked over compared to an younger style of athlete and how is journey was much different by the way he never gave up and instead of competing to win he was following his. dream.
