Chapter one Questions

  1. “Instead of being the warm centre of the world, the Middle West now seemed like the ragged edge of the universe—so I decided to go East and learn the bond business”

2. separated by “new money” people and “old money” people which lived in the eats and New money people who live in the west. ” I live at east egg the least fashionable of the two”

3. White because she lives in west egg which is a place for rich and people with new money.

4. The rise of coloured empires shows us he believes everything he reads (gullible) and is looked apon by the reader as a racist Character.

5. Tom and Daisy They both come from incredibly wealthy families, and live on fashionable East Egg, marking them as members of the “old money” class. As the reader, I think Daisy is being used and isn’t happy and try hard to cover up her feelings.

6. Nick sees that Gatsby is staring at a green light at the end of the dock this meant to symbolise something that Gatsby is grasping for and is said to be used throughout the book Nick did not call out for Gatsby because he was in a moment that felt important to him.

7. The green light is appointed as a important symbol in the book the colour green could represent to go forward with his dreams and goals and for the time period which the book is set in this could be the American dream and what it represented to the people as a goal at the time
